For those who do not enjoy reading contracts in their freetime, here is a quick look at the nitty-gritty details of your Safeguard Self Storage contract.
Unless you are a lawyer, in law school, or it's your hobby, there are not many people who will sit down and read through the entire contract they are about to sign. To be fair, there is a lot of information and fine print to cover.
While this is an outline of the contract, it will not cover everything. This is intended to help people decide whether or not they would like to rent from us. *We recommend you read over the entire contract before you are ready to sign it.
“A professional who doesn't deliver as committed is not just lazy, he is a liar.” - Amit Kalantri, Wealth of Words.
Below, you will find the most important parts about the contract outlined. Don't worry. It is in English and easy to understand. If you have any questions by the end, feel free to shoot us a message on Facebook!
Required Customer Information
What do you need to bring with you when you sign the contract? Great question! We do not need a lot. You will need to know your ID number or social security number, address, phone number, and email address. Not too bad, right? You will be a proud tenant of a Safeguard Self Storage unit the same day you fill out a contract. You will be expected to pay prorated rent for your unit + the security deposit. That means, you will only have to pay rent for the days you were under contract for that unit. No more, no less.
Be prepared to make that payment through cash, check, or credit card. We recommend you be set up on automatic payments. The payment for your unit will come out once a month on the first of the month. This makes it easy to pay your unit on time. If your card were to decline for some reason, we will send you a text and you have until the 5th of every month to make the payment before you are charged a $10 late fee.
Storing Your Items
What are the limitations? You cannot store items with a combined total value of $5,000.00 and we encourage you to carry insurance on items stored in the unit just in case. Tenants are responsible for buying their own lock. We sell locks in the office for $10. If you ever need one, you can stop by and buy one from the on-site office manager.
We are not liable for any damages that may occur such as weather. We ask you to not store products that may damage the unit or units around you. You cannot use the units for anything other than storing items, such as running a business out of them. We do not provide security. While we do provide video coverage with the cameras installed all around the facility, we are not responsible for anything that may happen.
Possible Fees
If you don't pay rent on your unit for 30 days, we have the right to sell your items and you will have to vacate the unit. You can expect us to put a red lock on the unit until rent is paid or caught up.
If rent is not paid by the 5th, you will be charged a $10 late fee. If your unit is still not paid by the 15th, you will be charged an additional $10 late fee and a red lock will be placed on your unit until it is paid. When depositing a check, if the check bounces, you will be charged a $30 fee.
Moving-Out
During the time you are renting from us, please update your contact information with us and keep this information current. Before vacating you unit, we require that you give us two-week written notice. This can be done by sending an email to safeguard2264@gmail.com with your name, unit number and the day you plan to move out.
When you move out, please take off your lock, sweep the unit out, and provide your current address to the office managers so your refund can be sent to you in a check. We expect the unit to be returned in good condition. If your unit is damaged in any way, you will be charged a $40 fee at a minimum to get it fixed.
